My Fave Peeps

(Maw Maw may get me for posting this one.) Sorry, Mom. I'm sure Photoshop could open your eyes. I just don't know how to do it. :(
You are BEA-U-TIFUL anyway!

Moppin Mag

Mag spent the night with Mom and Dad last night, and I don't know what spell Mom put on her, but I sure hope it lasts!!

The girl called me giving me the play-by-play of her mopping for MawMaw.

Now, she has mopped. Plenty.
But MawMaw's *fancy* mop (aka The Swiffer Wet Jet) was top-notch!

She even talked Mom into letting her bring it home.
Now, mind you, I cleaned today - including mopping - but she was persist ant that she needed to mop.

Fine. Have at it. She can do it again next week, too. Same time same place!

Picking Lemons

We are in Orlando, and a fellow home school friend opened her home yard to us and shared her lemons!

The look like oranges, don't they?? Nope. They are lemons!

They have a ginormous Meyer-lemon tree, and knew there was no way their family would ever be able to pick and use all of these softball sized lemons!

I will have to post what we do with all of these lemons! I think she sent us home with at least 20!! I drink hot, lemon water daily - but wouldn't be able to use all of these in months!!

She gave me a few suggestions on using them. I will have to take pics and post as we do.

For dinner tonight, I cooked chicken and rice in the small crock pot. (Did I tell y'all our big crock pot broke?? That's a sad story in itself!) An hour before it was to be done, I added a bag of frozen peas on top. And VOILA! Dinner was served!

Now, for my finicky children (and Daddy) who don't want their foods touching - it would not have been a good thing. But nothing was mushy, so I was able to separate it on their plates...and they.never.knew! And, that, my friends, is priceless!

OSC

Fun, fun, fun!! We spent the day at Orlando Science Museum. It's a reciprocal of our museum pass - YAY! I think Bryan and PawPaw had as much, if not more fun than the kids!

This is the result of me flyiing a plane...(not a good thing!)

Paw-Paw in a Catergory 1 Hurricane....

Assembling a soma cube...

These are actually CAKES! Yep, cakes. They are cakes highlighting some of Florida's most beautiful attributes. To make just one of these bad-boys Mercedes Strachwsky of Ovieda, FL used 1000 lbs of powdered sugar, 240 eggs, and 120lbs of royal icing! Not to mention the 2 years of her time to complete it! Amazing, wouldn't you say??

This was a water table in Kids Zone where kids under 48" can build dams and channels. You see who actually ended up playing here.

All the REAL kids were scared to interupt them at work. They were so serious!
When they were finished they not only had channels and dams, but symmetry. Can you feel the level of OCD around this table??! ha!

PawPaw taking a break - just texting his little heart out! LOVE IT!

My all-time favorite part of this museum is the H2NOW exhibit.

Here is what their website reads about it:
Imagine powering a miniature city - with hydrogen! H2NOW: The Great Hydrogen X-Change is an innovative approach to interactive exhibits that brings the science and technology behind this renewable energy source to visitors of all ages. In H2NOW, you can explore what hydrogen is, where it comes from, and many of its possible uses.

Start by picking up a hydrocell. Through the use of RFID technology, you charge your hydrocell with Hydrogen Energy Units - HEU’s you have earned by answering questions about hydrogen one of the interactive charging stations. Then, use those HEU’s to power the miniature city of Hydropolis. While there, check out the Renewable Energy Poster exhibit to discover the latest information about wind, solar, nuclear, and biofuels.

Here is what my camera shows about it:

I was so intrigued by this exhibit. Maybe because I do care a lot about this subject matter. Maybe because, as homeschoolers, we find the teaching moments in every situation. And maybe becuase I'm just a dork. Or maybe all of the above. ;) Either way - it was very informative and fun.

Mr. Fix It

I had no clue of what I was walking into. I heard hammering. I thought Nicholas was hammering something in his room. Until I looked in their bathroom....

No. I would have never pictured this one! ha!

A drawer seemed to need *fixin* and he thought he was just the one to do it. And called in his assistant, with her baton in hand.

Regardless how it was repaired, it's fixed. That's all that matters, right??

Did I mention there is NEVER a dull day around here??

Missing Fish

I am surprised our neighbors didn't hear a certain little 8yo girl screaming yesterday afternoon!! SERIOUSLY! She noticed this afternoon that the bowl of the fish-that-would-never-die was EMPTY!

EMPTY, people!!

I blamed the cat.

Not quite sure how he jumped onto the kitchen counter; but I still blamed the cat.

There was no other explanation.

Until we moved the canister. :(

It appeared he jumped out of his bowl on his own.

Poor thing. :(

Squirrel Appreciation Day

Why most people didn't believe me about today I'm still not sure. Does that sound like a fake holiday?! ha!

Being Thursday, and our new Thursday habit, we celebrated National Squirrel Appreciation Day at.the.park! :) Everyone brought goodies to share, and some brought activities. I must say, Brenda, YOU.OUT.DID.YOURSELF!! Hands down!

There were peanuts scattered all over the park. Each kid had a limit of 3 to retrieve and exchange for a PRIZE. There were gifts wrapped in baskets labeled GIRLS and BOYS. Mag racked up on more jewelry - what else?!

Did I mention it was windy today?? Crazy-windy!

*Squirrel Pies*, compliments of Marilyn...

And if you are a squirrel-lover, you could make squirrel feeders...

Cookie kits to decorate.....

This was my fave of the day....a squirrel tail! Mission: Catch the squirrel! (aka the kid wearing a broom head as a tail) ;) Too cute...

So thankful for such awesome people in our lives to share even the silliest-turned-educational days with!
