Lego Birthday Party
One of the kids' friends birthday party was today. Now, this sound strange, but we were not clear if Nicholas and Maggie or just Maggie was invited. Weird, I know. The invite was an E-invite, so it didn't say. But the 7yo birthday boy only *spoke* of inviting Maggie to his party. I knew if I had called the mom, she would have said, *Oh, of course, bring him!* Because that's just the type of person she is. But I know how it can be to have more *guests* (aka intruders) than you had originally invited! There are 4 kids in that family. So, Bryan and I agreed that Maggie wouldn't be invited to the older's party. So, to error on the side of ignorance - Nicholas stayed home. :(
And of course we get there...and I could have KICKED myself! *Where is Nicholas??* *Why didn't Nicholas come??* Oh, the questions! [because his Mommy didn't want to bring him and get the look of What's he doing here?? That's why.] :-/
Nicholas wasn't phased by not going. In his little mind it was just a 7-year-old's party! (Not his brother who will soon be TWELVE!) ;)
Daniel's birthday party was too fun. (although I am still trying to NOT make a big deal out of it in front of Nicholas) Jennifer (the mom) is Mrs. Planner if you've ever met one. I'm sure she had the schedule of the day programmed in her Blackberry with timers! Seriously! ha!
The kids were divided into 3 teams for games.
There was carry a LEGO on a spoon....
Push the LEGO creation with your nose.....
And if it broke apart, you had to stop and assemble it back together and start again.....
Kick the LEGO (like a soccer ball) Katharine was mart enought to use those sweet, dirty toes....
Putt the LEGO with a hockey stick....
Then, there was a box with 5 balloons for each team. Each balloon was filled with Lego's. One person from each team had to get a balloon, pop it, and take the pieces to other team members, and do it again until all 5 balloons were popped. The goal was to build the tallest tower in the shortest amount of time.
All of the loud popping was too much for Lydia....
There was also a contest of which team could fill their cup with the most Lego's - USING CHOPSTICKS!
There was also the guessing game of *How many in the jar??*
Maggie-Peyton and Katharine....
...plus Kaitlyn....
Daniel and the pinata....
Thanks again, Jennifer and Jim, for being such great hosts and for including us in such a fun day!
